Abstract
The idea of call and response—themes and the artwork inspired by the themes—provides an interpretive overlay for the 44 works of art featured in this article of the journal. The themes chosen—Recruit, Record, Rehabilitate, Retreat, React, Respect, Reflect, Remember, and Reorient—suggest the experiential “life cycle” of those who have served in the armed forces–from recruitment into military life to reorientation back to the civilian world.
