Abstract
The demand for DNA testing to solve crimes and assist in the identification of victims from mass disasters and terror attacks continues to grow. As a result, there is significant pressure on the forensic community and law enforcement agencies to develop rapid, compact and portable devices that can genotype individuals in real-time and in the field.
The objective of this project is to develop a molecular beacon assay that can directly genotype DNA samples in real-time without the need of time-consuming extraction and capillary electrophoresis protocols.
