Abstract
HIV is a preventable disease when steps are taking to decrease transmission. Health care providers are on the forefront of curving the HIV epidemic. Provider confidence related to HIV screening and testing can increase with proper intervention and education. The Check List screening tool is a tool that providers can use in practice to screen those patients who might be at risk for acquiring HIV even if they have already been screened once in their lifetime. The goal of the DNP project was to increase the confidence and practice of the health care providers at the White House Clinics through implementation of an EBP Checklist tool to improve the screening and HIV testing among patients 18-65 years of age and to identify those patients who might be at increased risk. The use of the Check List tool during patient visits shows an improvement in confidence from health care providers regarding screening and testing patients for HIV.
