Abstract
The equine therapy field has become vastly popular within the past few years as a tool, used to achieve clientele goals. Within the equine therapy field, Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.) and Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) are two organizations that have distinguished themselves through the various equine assisted activities they do or do not offer. With somewhat lacking scientific studies, it may be difficult for a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to know which certification would be most beneficial as a professional, as well as for the clientele they may serve. This study will examine and expose what the benefits of EAGALA and PATH Intl. are for Therapeutic Recreation (TR) services. The researcher will show the differences and similarities between organizations, proven benefits clients have received, and viewpoints from CTRS professionals through a literature review.
