Abstract

There has been a number of studies that have explored the effects of perceived racism and discrimination on psychological well-being. Though, to gain an overall understanding of this research we completed a meta-analysis exploring various populations around the world as well as various characteristics of well-being. Through the interpretation of over 80 different articles we concluded that discrimination regardless of race, ethnicity, and gender negatively impacts individuals psychological well being in a number of different aspects; including through depression, stress, self-esteem, and overall life satisfaction.
