Abstract
A successful management team consists of individuals with experience, patience, creativity, discipline, and ethics. The YMCA was founded in 1844 by George Williams in London, England. The YMCA aims to put Christian principles into practice by developing a healthy “spirit, mind, and body.” Research indicates a median tenure amongst Central Kentucky YMCA employees of 15 years; The Central Kentucky YMCA management themes that emerged include XYZ. The most consistent philosophies prevalent amongst YMCA executive administrators are the understanding of the significance of what the YMCA does in the community and the enrichment of the lives of others through mentoring and community building. This qualitative study included interviews with four YMCA executives to ascertain management style tenets. Each interview was transcribed verbatim, and analysis of data involved the application of the Consensual Qualitative Research Model (Hill et a., 1997), with the two student researchers and the faculty mentor collaborating to identify central themes across all interviews. This research is intended to help prospecting new executives on key principals to follow which will aid them in leading with excellence, and growth within their organization.
