Abstract
An Envoy explores the themes of divinity, reincarnation and consequence. The aesthetic purpose of An Envoy is to indulge in the concept of an imperfect group of Gods with their faulty behaviors affect their creations. An Envoy is written in two perspectives. The Envoy narrates the novel in first-person from the ethereal plane and then switches to a third-person omniscient narration while on the earthly plane. The title character tells the story of Agnes Aulders who undergoes a journey to discover that she's one half of a Pair. The Envoy is sent by the Might to "rescue" Agnes. He administers past life memories and attempts to keep Metta away from Agnes. The other half of the Pair (Metta) enters into Agnes's life and begins to cruelly test Agnes in an attempt to prove she's her missing Pair. The Envoy begins to understand that the Mighty are fallible and he betrays them. He's punished for his rebellion and transformed into a human. These primary characters change after discovering the truths of their existences. Agnes realizes her angelic nature and rescues Metta. Metta returns to her original state, receives a reprieve from her past and is given an opportunity to try again. Together the reunited Pair confronts the Mighty, leaving the Envoy to face grief for the first time as a human.
