Abstract
Dirt Work is a collection of original poetry that uses mythology, specifically Norse mythology, as a lens through which to filter personal concerns and relationships. There are eight sections, four of which are named after Norse gods, the other four being labeled "liminal space." Each named section deals with a specific person or relationship, while the liminal space sections are more generalized. Themes present include voice, loss of voice, feminism, queer theory, mythology, rural life, Appalachian identity, gender equality.
