Abstract

This is a Creative Non-Fiction collection of essays is a memoir that follow the adventures of two young men as they travel from Provincetown, Massachusetts across Eastern Canada, across the Southern United States and finally up the Pacific Coast in an aborted attempt to drive to Alaska seeking work either in the fish canneries or on the Alaska Pipeline in the summer of 1971. Along this journey of self-discovery they meet a series of experiences that at once characterize each protagonist, Ric (the narrator) and John his buddy from college, as well as the tenor of the times and the experiences they have during their travels.
