Abstract

We talked about how Special Collections and Archives had successfully used Omeka, an open-source content-management program for creating online exhibits and digital libraries. We discussed four unique projects and explained why Omeka was a good choice for each. We also discussed the pros and cons of local and hosted installations, including our decision to hire a student programmer to fully customize the local site. The projects included collaborations with the local historical society and with EKU undergraduate and University of Kentucky School of Library and Information Science (UK SLIS) graduate students.
