Abstract
Anaïs Nin, French-Cuban author famous for her 35,000 page diary that has been published in both expurgated and unexpurgated forms, is also the author of several volumes of erotic literature. Nin's Diary and volumes of erotica changed the face of women's literature and erotica by providing the first authentic erotic feminine voice. Examining both the content and the response to said material provides an understanding as to how Nin's works changed what it means to be a woman author and a writer of erotic literature.
