Abstract
This honors thesis was to explore the idea that an earlier introduction of Francis Poulenc’s mélodies could provide pedagogical and technical advantages to voice students. Through exploring historical material about Poulenc, pedagogical sources, and many, many scores, I found that if taught correctly to the right student, there were a large amount of benefits that could come from utilizing Poulenc’s music. It is in my highest hope that, through my research, people will gain an interest in studying and teaching Poulenc’s mélodies, which is something that I believe is of great importance.
