Abstract
Technological trends are increasingly promoting the incorporation of generative Artificial Intelligence, or AI, for a variety of applications in education and other professional areas. This paper explores the academic application of instruction of generative AI as a tool for scholarly writing in an undergraduate writing intensive healthcare course. It utilizes a retrospective, quasi-experimental approach to data, reviewing pre/post electronic surveys to learn more about student use of generative AI, and frequencies from qualitative data regarding a targeted approach to generative AI use for peer review of a healthcare topic paper. Results provide insight into the clinical utility of guided use of generative AI supporting student learning during the scholarly writing process.
