Abstract
Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is an emerging field in many different health professions. AAT is a type of therapy to promote improvement with social, emotional, physical, cognitive functions. This project will address the benefits, history, and success of AAT and the benefits it has for children with disabilities. This project will discuss multiple interventions in which an animal is incorporated as an integral part of the clinical health care treatment process. It will also show how AAT plays a role in the therapeutic benefits to combat effects children have from their disabilities. The purpose of this project will show the benefits animals can have on the human and improve their quality of life.
