Abstract
This presentation / workshop reviews current social media being utilized by athletes, parents, fans and how athletic administrators can harness social-media positively. Current legal issues vs. concerns about social-media use in athletic programs by both coaches, administrators and athletes based on presenting various case law that impact any of your social-media policies will be reviewed. Legal cases have been reshaping social media policies at all levels. Including federal cases where social-media has been given 1st Amendment protection
Learning Objectives of workshop:

Attendees will be able to recognize how to review current social media policies based on current case law to assure current policies will pass legal challenge
- Attendees will be able to recognize the current social medial platforms, and understand which platform to use to achieve various objectives and goals
- Attendees will be able to identify and start to use at least two social medial platforms that will help them communicate information about there programs
Educational Outcomes for the Workshop
Participants need to take away two important things, one social medial is a tool that needs to be utilized in today’s world of athletics and education, this tool like anything other tool can be utilized constructively to help build community and provide convenience, or could be used to tear down or destroy community, so you must learn to utilize this new tool well. Participants must also learn they cannot bury there head in the sand but must utilize social media as this si where today’s generation is and it is no long just the students in our schools but the parents of today’s students are as well.
