Abstract
Telepsychology includes psychological services made available through virtual methods such as telephone-based conferences. It could be used to provide mental health assistance to individuals who live in areas that lack in-person counseling services. Many of the online students enrolling at a university live in rural areas or are too busy to schedule in-person counseling appointments. This study aims to determine the impression of such services to an online university population. Correlational analyses were completed to determine the relationship between age, living location, and perception of telepsychology. Results indicated that online students who were older and were from rural locations perceived telepsychology services less favorably than traditional college-age students from more urban areas. Future studies should focus on the implementation of telepsychology-based programs in larger populations and universities nation-wide.
