Abstract

It is a hard decision to pick the right career for you and everyone at some point in their life is faced with this decision. To understand more about an individual’s career choice, this study has chosen to focus on their interests and how the define the self. There are four self-consrtuals that can define the self for someone, independent, interdependent, relational, and physical. They all explain how an individual see themselves when interacting with the outside world. The Holland codes are used in a number of career inventories to help people understand what type of occupations fit them best. This study will be conducted online through a survey with 149 participants, who will be answering questions based on how they understand the self and what interests they have. The results will be used to examine the relationship between career interests and how an individual defines the self.
