Abstract
Delicate Bloom
In our paper pleating project, the purpose of us creating our dress was we were trying to make something that looked like normal dress, and not so abstract. Something that could be made and could actually be wearable. We did not really have a certain concept for our design, we sort of just played around with things at first. We played around with another kinds of paper, and we kept going back and forth between which to use on the top or the bottom. We came up with using the same paper on the top and bottom, and the paper we used was a paper napkin which was very easy to make pleats in because it was very flexible. Our pleating method we used was the simple pleat. Where you just fold the paper back and forth until you get the folds you like. It was definitely the easiest pleat to do because you can change the sizing of the pleat or how many pleats you make almost instantly. We especially could change it because our paper we used was so flexible. We also added another material, ribbon. We chose the ribbon because it brought out other colors that are light on the napkin. Adding a pop of color, such as our ribbon, is a nice statement because it gives the piece some flavor and life. If we did not add the ribbon onto our design, it would be pretty bland. But by using one more piece of material it made our design a lot livelier and more fun!
