Abstract
Butterflies are not only beautiful to look at, but they are also a sign of a thriving ecosystem. Butterflies, like bees, are important for the pollination of many plants and flowers, however butterflies are relied on for the pollination of specific flowers such as those in the milkweed family. Along with pollination, butterflies also provide population control for several plants and even some insects. Butterflies provide a food source for other animals themselves. Butterflies add to tourism wherever in the world they may be. For example, monarch butterflies migrate to the Oyamel Fir forests in Mexico each winter and because of this, they attract butterfly enthusiasts from around the world. Without a fully equipped butterfly garden, all the contributions that are made by butterflies in their local ecosystem could be affected. For survival, butterflies need a proper source of nutrition, such as the appropriate host and nectar flowers, a solid place to perch throughout the night, in the heat and during inclement weather, like a leafy bush or shrub. Butterflies also need water, sun and shade. By means of a literature review and extensive research, we will flutter through the importance of a fully equipped butterfly garden in recreation ecology.
