Abstract
Participating in recreational activities is important for a person’s quality of life and mental health. The definition of recreation is defined as anything that one does for fun in their free time that they enjoy. Quality of life is defined as how comfortable someone is in their life and how they are enjoying the events in their life. These two definitions of recreation and quality of life go hand in hand with each other in many ways. This study will look at the importance of participating in outdoor recreation activities and how it can increase a person’s quality of life and mental health. It has been proven that those who take part in recreation activities do enjoy the activities and do have a higher quality and mental health. According to Harvard those who spend time outdoors are much happier and have a positive look on life. It has been proven that “physical activity has been shown to help people relax and cheer up” (Harvard Health 2010). Not only does the outdoors increase the quality of life by enjoying the outdoors. The sunshine also helps you relax and be more productive as well.
