Abstract

Recreation is a vital part of early childhood development and can serve individuals, groups, and teams in a number of ways but how does recreation find its place in a community; that is precisely what this research report hopes to answer. Throughout the duration of this study the researchers hope to explore how recreation finds a place in marginalized communities across Kentucky, or if it even has a place at all. Through the use of relevant and recent peer reviewed and accepted information the researchers will explore topics such as access, diversity, and culture to determine how different cohorts participate in recreation. This study will leverage the use of academic research to answer the question, “How do marginalized communities participate in recreation?”, is it any different than the majority, and if so, why?
