Abstract

The concept of priming humans has existed in the world of psychology for a long time now and has been experimented with extensively in the field. There is an obvious trend that priming does have the effect of being able to manipulate reactions of people with subconscious stimuli. The current research done on priming has only researched how priming can affect reactions of people, but my study aims to direct priming to try and have an effect on manipulating the more executive functions of the brain, more specifically decision making ability. My experiment will use a quasi experimental design in which a subject is put under a prime and are asked to make a selection between 4 options set on the table. The prime will be delivered in a normal sounding pitch given to the subject in order to avoid alerting the subject of the intention of priming them. This will show the most accurate results if it is possible to prime someone subconsciously and affect their decision making abilities.
