Abstract
The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is a nonprofit organization that aims “to advance parks, recreation, and environmental conservation efforts that enhance the quality of life for all people” (NRPA, 2021). According to NRPA website, NRPA operates through the following three pillars: Health and Wellness, Equity, and Conservation. According to Terri Wilkerson, Kentucky Recreation and Park Society (KRPS) Executive Director, strategic goals and objectives of KRPS can be found across the following six areas: Advocacy, Education, Engagement, Growth, Operations, and Resource Development. Of course, parks and recreation organizations across the country strive to align their policies with those of the NRPA. The purpose of this study is to analyze the goals and objectives in the areas of education, engagement, and resource development in the NRPA, and write acceptable standards for KRPS. Suggestions for potential improvement will also be written based on standards from the NRPA. The researchers will also answer the question: “Is KRPS strategically in line with the NRPA?”
