Abstract
Kit Carson was a notorious figure within Madison County, Kentucky and throughout the United States for his role as an American frontiersman and his violence against Native Americans. The EKU Field School was tasked by the City of Richmond, Kentucky with locating Kit Carson’s birth cabin and other occupational evidence. To help in this work, multiple geophysical survey methods such as Magnetic gradiometry and GPR were used to potentially identify buried cultural remains. This multi-method approach proved beneficial as together, these methods yielded promising results that guided subsequent excavations.
