Abstract

Observations were made at two restaurant locations, one rural (Estill County) and one urban (Fayette County). The purpose of this observational study was to collect evidence for typical cultural values at each location. Overall, it was found that behaviors of individuals at the Estill location demonstrated greater collectivism, while the behaviors observed at the Fayette location tended to demonstrate individualism. An analysis via observer ratings revealed differences and similarities between cultural values of the two locations
