Abstract
This paper explains developmental mathematics and how to effectively implement new strategies into every day classes to encourage learning. There is discussion of other schools’ methods of developmental mathematics. Developmental mathematics at EKU is evolving; Spring 2013 data is evaluated for MAT 090 and 095 students to show how grades are distributed. This semester is compared to other semesters using the module system, as well as the full semester course used previously. The module system was meant to improve student passing rates, and data shows that this is true in most cases. The module system has proven to be successful, and professors are constantly working to improve on this new idea.
