Abstract
Children who are deaf and hard of hearing are behind in their reading and language skills for many reasons and one of them is an incomplete exposure to full language. In this thesis research paper, I looked at the reasons why this is true. I looked at the many literacy issues that deaf and hard of hearing students have, how digital storybooks with American Sign Language imbedded videos might be able to help correct those issues as well as the process in which one would create their own digital storybook for deaf and hard of hearing students. The results are purely research based and I hope to take this into the field in the near future to see how it serves.
