Abstract
The International Town and Gown Association strives to create and maintain better relationships between a university and the city in which it resides. The ITGA has an annual conference held by a different university each year. In 2012, Eastern Kentucky University had the honor of hosting the conference. In that year, student leadership attempted implementation in the conference, with students in attendance and student presentations. This conference was the first ITGA conference to host international attendees as well as students and student presentations. There were about seven students in attendance, including the student presenters. The student presentation came from EKU students about a school spirit day, The Power of Maroon day. Overall, student involvement wasn’t as high as it could have been. The attempt was a step toward the importance of student leadership involvement in Town and Gown relationships and hopes that in future conferences that student rates will be higher.
