Abstract

According to the U.S Travel Association, travel spending totaled a mere $679 billion in 2020, an unprecedented 45% annual decline (nearly $500 billion) from 2019 “ (U.S Travel, 2021). This research examines the impact of Covid-19 on the tourism industry in the United States. An examination of the literature indicates that the world and the tourism sector are struggling to adapt to the pandemic and trying to find new ways to attract future business. It was found in the research that tourism will have an increase of participation after Covid-19 is managed more properly. It was also found that the tourism industry has implemented several ways of adapting to covid such as social distancing on flights and cruises, hand sanitizing stations, and pretesting precautions before travel is allowed. The future for tourism is uncertain, but through safe practices and patience, it will remerge as a focal business in the United States
