Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate how friendship in the workplace can affect employee productivity. Research indicates that friendship in the workplace is important. Being able to have workplace friendships makes the working environment more relaxed. Those who have a work best friend have a higher demonstrated longevity inside the company compared to those who do not. The employees who have established friendships with other coworkers are more productive and get their work done for the company. This research included a literature review as well as a qualitative component consisting of interviews with employees of Eastern Kentucky University. One individual stated “There is no question that the friendships we have in our department have enriched my work environment. We spend so much of our lives at work that friendships make for an enjoyable and satisfying job experience”
