Abstract
Participating in recreational activities is important for a person’s quality of life and mental health. The definition of recreation is defined anything that one does for fun in their free time that they enjoy. quality of life is defined as how comfortable someone is in their life and how they are enjoying life events. These two definitions of recreation and quality of life go hand in hand with each other. This study will research the importance of participating in outdoor recreation activities and how it can increase a person’s quality of life and mental health. It has been proven that those who take part in recreation activities that they enjoy have a higher quality and mental health. According to Harvard those who spend time outdoors are much happier and have a positive look on life. It has been proven that “physical activity has been shown to help people relax and cheer up” (Publishing 2010). Not only does the outdoors increase the quality of life by just enjoying the outdoors the sunshine helps you relax and when your get back to work you are able to concentrate better than before.
