Abstract

In recent years, environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, and deforestation are plaguing the world and are affecting many humans and different animal species. There has been evidence to suggest that there could be a connection between the political parties that individuals best affiliate or identify with, and their specific views on various environmental issues; then, from there, how they approach the issues and how much effort they put in to helping the cause and coming up with a solution. The purpose of my project is to find a possible correlation between high schoolers’ political affiliations and views on environmental issues. The study consists of a non-experimental and mixed methods approach that is used to gather data from participants, followed by viewing the results, finding patterns between the political party that each person identifies with most and how that relates to their views on environmental issues such as climate change and pollution. My goal is to find a possible correlation between the two variables of political affiliations and views on environmental issues; then, raise awareness of how which political party an individual affiliates with best can impact their views on specific environmental issues, as well as environmental issues in general, and find any possible patterns or differences between them.
