Abstract

This interprofessional education (IPE) project was designed to prepare students to work and lead in an increasingly complex healthcare environment. The purpose of this project is to describe and measure accounting and occupational therapy students’ perception and value of participating in an IPE learning activity and how the activity enriched the learning environment and identified gaps of knowledge to improve teaching. A mixed methods pre- post-survey design was used to collect quantitative data from a modified version of the Interprofessional Socialization and Valuing Scale (ISVS-9a) from 115 occupational therapy and 21 accounting students. Qualitative data was collected from a post-survey using open-ended questions and the accounting students’ consultation deliverable report to the occupational therapy students. Biography

Angela Lampe, OTD, OTR/L is Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Creighton University. Angie has served in an academic role since 2014 and currently serves as the Director of the Post-Professional Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program.

Brenda Coppard, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA is a Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Creighton University. Brenda has served in numerous roles including Chair, Vice Chair, and most recently Associate Dean for Assessment in SPAHP.

Ali Maloy, MS, CPA is an Accounting Instructor and Faculty Co-Advisor for Beta Alpha Psi within the Heider College of Business at Creighton University. Prior to joining the faculty at Creighton in 2018, she worked in the world of accounting since graduating with her accounting degree.

Yongyue Qi, MS, PhD. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Creighton University. Yongyue shares his expertise of data analysis for many peer-reviewed manuscripts, committees, and student research groups.
